Obama Cult of Personality in Public Schools

It’s more than just one school.

The Obama Cult of Personality has apparently become pretty common in public schools.

All the more reason to push for school choice.

This is the natural result of power and self-worship. For other examples consider Hitler's Germany and North Korea.

A couple thoughts:

1) Obama being Irish is just going to confuse these poor kids. I don't get it at all.

2) I think criticism of this trend can be overdone. There's at least a fair likelihood that for some of those older kids, the songs were student-initiated, and that's fine. Also, like him or not (and I don't), you can't deny the first black president is an event of major historical importance, and song has traditionally been a way to teach young children about important events. I remember learning a song in school about the Challenger explosion. Yes, some of the songs can go too far, but I'm not going to paint them all with the same brush

I noticed that you have been covering less of Marquette than in recent years...any reason in particular? Perhaps the lure of criticizing Obama is too overwhelming? (;

Anyhow, just a thought from one of your liberal fans that constantly checks your blog just to make myself incensed...the same type that reads drudge everyday just to get upset with his headline phrasing.

Hope you are doing well, sir.

Yea, but that wasn't partisan.

What would liberals have said if schools engaged in similar antics with regard to Ronald Reagan?

the songs were student-initiated

Nothing like this happens without the consent of teachers and administrators. Suppose pro-Bush students had "initiated" something like this.

Not really, except for the fact that I've been busy on a big project, and have passed up a few things simply for the lack of time.

As you can imagine, original reporting takes more time than just reprinting and commenting on national news.

Then there is the fact that I'm on leave this fall, and don't have the large number of students, some of whom typically "tip me off" to this or that outrage.

But if some outrage happens, and if I can get some good sources to allow reporting it, I'll certainly do that.

Glad to hear I'm still leaving you incensed. :-)

Take care.
